POWELL, Wyo. - The Children’s Learning and Care Center at Northwest College is once again offering free preschool for income-eligible children ages 3-5.
“I encourage parents to call me to talk about free preschool options for their children,” said Autourina Mains, the center’s manager. “Many may be surprised how easy it is to qualify for a first-rate preschool experience.”
Two sessions are offered: Three-year-old children attend class from 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; four- and five-year olds are in school from 1-4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The NWC center strives to provide a warm and loving environment where the individuality, uniqueness, and creativity of each child are encouraged. Diverse opportunities are nurtured for growth and development in the cognitive, social/emotional, physical and adaptive domains. Parent participation is encouraged.
NWC’s preschool is available only to parents who meet WIC (Women, Infants and Children) income-eligibility guidelines. Maximum income levels vary according to the household size, from $20,036 annually for a one-person household to $68,469 for an eight-person household.
Children who attend the Children’s Learning and Care Center are required to be potty-trained.
The NWC preschool program is underwritten by a Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) grant from the Wyoming State Department of Education. NWC is the only college in the state to receive a TANF grant.
