POWELL, Wyoming — Big Horn Basin residents can train to become emergency medical technicians in a three-month course beginning Monday, March 9, in Cody.
EMT Basics classes will meet Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-9:30 p.m. with labs scheduled on seven Saturdays (once in Powell) from March 28 through May 16.
The training includes anatomy and physiology of the human body, techniques of emergency treatment for various injuries and emergency situations, and other topics related to emergency medical and first-aid practices.
In addition to 127 hours of classroom time, and over 50 hours of lab time, each student will participate in 24 hours of ambulance ride time.
Those who complete the course successfully will be prepared to take the national registry written examination and state practical assessment.
