POWELL, Wyo. — About 200 of the best high school music students from the Big Horn Basin will be in Powell Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21 and 22, for the 2014 North Big Horn Basin District Music Clinic.
Choir and band students will spend both days working on music to present at a 2:30 p.m. concert Saturday. In addition, percussionists from the Northwest College Concert Band will perform in an ensemble directed by adjunct percussion professor Matt Devitt of Billings, Montana.
This year’s guest clinicians are both from Wyoming—Craig Olson, recently appointed director of bands at NWC, will conduct the band, and Holly Dalrymple, assistant professor of vocal arts and choral music education at the University of Wyoming, will direct the choir.
Participating students from Big Horn, Hot Springs, Park and Washakie counties were selected by their music teachers.
Sponsored by the Northern Big Horn Basin Music Educators Association, the clinic is hosted by the Music Department at Northwest College. NWC music faculty Jan Kliewer and Craig Olson are organizing chairpersons.
Admission to the Saturday concert is free.
