POWELL, Wyo. - What started as a fitness bug among a few students in a Northwest College class has grown into a challenge to the entire Powell community to run or walk a mile just for the "Health of It" on Thursday, May 7.

The "Health of It," a five-km. run or one-mile walk, starts at 4 p.m. in front of the DeWitt Student Center on the NWC campus. Because the emphasis is on fun and just doing something healthy, the only prize involved is the opportunity to feel good afterward. Participants are asked to pay a $5 entry fee to cover the cost of a t-shirt, which everyone will receive. The entry fee for NWC students is waived.

The "Health of It" event was the result of an impromptu group brainstorm by students enrolled this semester in a Cardio and Strength Training for Older Adults class taught by Renee Humphries. After talking about how much better they felt because of the emphasis they were investing in their health, the students decided to spread the fun, to encourage others to just get out and do something.

For more information about the walk/run, call or e-mail Kristie Sullivan (307) 754-6165, or Lisa Harsh (307) 754-6291.

Sign-up sheets are posted at the NWC Business Office in the Orendorff Building, at the Student Success Center, Johnston Fitness Center, and the housing and activities offices in the DeWitt Student Center.

The $5 registration fee can be dropped off at the college's Business Office or paid with a credit card by calling Bobbie Bell (307) 754-6048.
