POWELL, Wyoming — Cody residents have three opportunities to fit in some professional development before the year ends at the Northwest College Cody Center for Training and Development.
Wendy Corr, well-known in Cody for her work in broadcasting, tourism and hospitality, will teach two half-day communication sessions, and popular software specialist Ashlee Lundvall will showcase the 2010 Excel program.
Corr’s first class, “Communicating Effectively,” meets from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18. In it, she examines the skills that help individuals better connect with coworkers, spouses, children and friends. She’ll demonstrate how effective communication enables individuals to resolve differences; build trust and respect; and create environments where creative ideas, problem-solving, affection and caring can flourish. Cost is $35; Cody Country Chamber of Commerce members pay $25.
“Microsoft Excel 2010 Basics” meets from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. Lundvall starts the class by introducing basic functions and features, as well spreadsheet terminology. She also covers basic formatting techniques, printing, creating and modifying charts, and managing large workbooks. The $99 cost includes a manual.
Corr returns Tuesday, Dec. 9, to conclude the 2014 training lineup with “Communication Strategies for Your Organization,” from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Covering internal and external communication modes and strategies, she’ll help participants define their stakeholders in order to evaluate best practices. Timeliness, credibility and reliability are stressed, as well as the benefits of creating an environment where stakeholders can contribute. Cost is $45; Cody Country Chamber of Commerce members pay $35.
All three classes are held in the NWC Center for Training and Development’s new location within the Park County Complex.
