Actors and actresses are invited to audition for “Hyronomous A. Frog” Jan. 21-23 at the Nelson Performing Arts Auditorium on the Northwest College campus. Auditions get underway each evening at 6:30 p.m.
With an anticipated attendance of more than 1,600 students, performances will be held April 10-12 with two showing times each day.
Packed with humor for theater goers of all ages, the children’s production of “Hyronomous A. Frog” is sure to delight its audience members.
Hyronomous, an inept and lonely frog prince, lives in a bog in the kingdom of Spamelot. Bored and unhappy, he’s larger than the other frogs and hates the taste of flies. One day, the good witch Gloria appears to tell him he was once a human prince, and it was a spell that turned him into an amphibian.
Throughout the duration of the play, Hyronomous desperately tries to learn to act like a human. Though he puts forth great efforts, his actions only seem to backfire, creating scenes filled with humor and wit.
Produced in conjunction with Pioneer Drama Service, the play is performed by adults for children invited from a 100-mile radius.
College students, area residents and high school students are eligible to audition. College credit is available.
In addition to actors and actresses needed for the production, there are also opportunities for those interested in helping with lighting, sound, costume and stage design.
