POWELL, Wyo. - Big Horn Basin families are invited to an April 13 Spring Carnival from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Homesteader Park in Powell. Plenty of entertainment is planned for adults and kids.
In addition to all the usual carnival games (ring toss, balloon darts, cake walk, etc.), a helicopter will land at noon for photo opportunities, and horse carriage rides will be available the entire day.
Golfers can shoot at flags in a Golf Shootout to win $2,500 in prizes, including a ski trip, 18-hole rounds of golf and more.
All the usual carnival food fare — hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn and soda — will be sold.
Admission is free; tickets cost 50 cents apiece. One ball in the Golf Shootout costs $10; two balls cost $18; and three balls, $25.
The Spring Carnival is sponsored by the Northwest College Enactus Team. Proceeds will be used to help fund the team’s trip to Seattle to participate in a regional competition.
The Enactus Team members (formerly SIFE) apply business concepts to develop community outreach projects, transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world.
During this academic year, Team Enactus Northwest College organized 16 projects in the Big Horn Basin community, including a Healthy Kids project in collaboration with Parkside Elementary School in Powell. The five-week venture taught fourth-grade students healthy exercise and diet habits.
