P O W E L L, W y o. - Three popular workforce development seminars on workplace fun, QuickBooks and millennials will be offered again in late April and May at the Northwest College Cody Center for Training and Development .
Anne Wilson, education coordinator for West Park Hospital, will give an encore of her popular presentation titled Making Your Workplace Fun at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 30. Her 90-minute program costs $10 per person, or $15 for two, and includes lunch. In it, she explores ways to put fun back into the work environment and reap the rewards, both company-wide and personally. Studies show that people who have fun in their everyday work environment are actually more productive, more loyal to their companies, and enjoy better health. Wilson says the secret is taking out the drudgery and adding some pizzazz. Registrations are accepted through Monday, April 28.
A four-night QuickBooks class covering the basics plus troubleshooting tips begins Tuesday, May 6.
Lynne Whitmore, a certified public accountant, instructs the class, which meets from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 6-15. It will cover the fundamentals of the QuickBooks software program, including customer and vendor transactions, banking and creating a company file. Students will receive lots of hands-on training to become comfortable with the software and concepts before completing the class. Cost is $125 and includes a manual. Because the class size is limited, registrations are suggested by Friday, May 2.
Danel LaRose will present her "ABC's of Working with the Millennial Generation Y's" program again from 8 a.m.-noon Tuesday, May 6. For those who find generational differences a challenge in the workplace, this class will help explain some of those differences and offer solutions for a more productive working environment. Cost is $50 per person. The registration deadline is Friday, May 2.
LaRose offers a basic overview of the current generation gap in the workplace, focusing on the communication and work styles of young adults who are now entering the workforce. She'll help participants evaluate their current business processes and how they can make or break the success of employees, managers and company practices in this millennium.
