Annual Buffalo Feast held Friday, Nov. 14, at Northwest College

P O W E L L,  W y o. - In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, the Native Ways student club at Northwest College will host its annual feast at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, in the Trapper Rendezvous Lounge of the DeWitt Student Center Lounge.

The feast will feature buffalo shoulder roast, new potatoes, corn, squash and other foods indigenous to the Americas.

This year's featured speaker is Lillianna Cervantes who graduated from Northwest College in May.  Cervantes was born in McAllen, Texas, and spent her early years in Mission before moving to Powell. While attending Powell High School, she participated in Explorers, a special program sponsored by the Boy and Girl Scouts of America.  She also sat on the Powell Junior City Council. She is continuing her studies at Northwest and is president of the Native Ways Club.

Cervantes will give a slide lecture titled "Invisible Words: A Narrative of the Battle of the Little Big Horn" based upon extensive research she did for her capstone project at Northwest College.  Another Native Ways member, Zech Williams, will perform on his flute.
