POWELL, Wyoming — The live theatre presentation “50 Years On: Brown and Proud” will be staged at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium at Northwest College.
The 65-minute program examines the cultural and social issues facing Latinos from 50 or more years ago, setting them against the issues Latinos contend with in today’s American society.
Three actors incorporate multimedia into a performance designed to be accessible and thought provoking; entertaining as well as educational.
A question-and-answer session with the performers and playwright afterward will give audience members a chance to localize the topic and initiate discussions about the awareness and actions needed in their own communities regarding Latino issues.
“50 Years On: Brown and Proud” is sponsored in Powell by the NWC Intercultural Programs, Student Activities and Diversity Awareness Committee. It is part of the college’s celebration of Latino Heritage Month.
Admission is free.
