POWELL, Wyo. - The annual "4x4 Exhibit and Sale" at Northwest Gallery marks its 30-year anniversary with a Tuesday, Dec. 1, opening reception at 7:30 p.m.
The sale is a perennially popular one because it gives campus and community art aficionados an opportunity to buy art works and Christmas presents at lower-than-usual prices. In keeping with tradition, the doors remain locked until exactly 7:30 p.m. when crowds rush the gallery to get first chance at the diminutive art created by Northwest College faculty and students.
Works submitted for the mixed-media show can be no larger than 16 square inches in two-dimensional form and 64 cubic inches in three-dimensional work.
Prices also follow a mathematical equation using the number four. All works are priced at $8 and $16 - four added to itself and multiplied by itself.
The usual cookies, coffee and punch will be offered, giving artists and patrons an opportunity to compare and admire their works and purchases.
The show hangs through Friday, Dec. 18, at Northwest Gallery, located in the Cabre Building on the Northwest College campus in Powell. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Thursdays from 7-9 p.m.
