As the Northwest College men’s and women’s basketball teams prepare for the winter season, both programs are under the guidance of new coaches.
Dawud Abdur-Rahkman is the new boss of the men’s team. He replaces Brian Erickson, who has taken over as athletic director.
Abdur-Rahkman comes to the Trappers from NJCAA Division 3 Lehigh Carbon. Previously, he worked at Howard University and for high school and AAU programs. Abdur-Rahkman was a late hire and has been on the Powell campus for little more than a week following a nationwide search after the promotion of Erickson.
The new women’s coach is Camden Levett, most recently assistant coach at Rocky Mountain College in Billings.
Levett previously coached high school ball in Montana and Colorado, was an assistant coach at Central Methodist University in Missouri, and supervised basketball camps in the Midwest.
Veteran women’s Janis Beal coach departed Northwest after last season’s 25-win campaign. She moved on to College of Idaho, a four-year program.
