Northwest College sophomore forward-center Chris Boucher was named to the 2014-15 NJCAA Division I Men’s basketball All-American team Tuesday.
The 6-10 talent from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, averaged 22.5 points (eighth in the nation), 11.8 rebounds (fifth) and 4.7 blocks (third) for the 31-5 Trappers this season, helping the team to a Region IX North title, Region IX Tournament championship and an appearance in the NJCAA Division I Men’s National Championship tournament.
In 34 games, Boucher’s 764 points and 159 blocks were best in the nation. His 275 defensive rebounds were second-best nationally, while his 402 total boards ranked him third.
Now that his season is officially over, Boucher is currently undergoing a wave of recruitment from several major Division I programs, attention NWC head coach Brian Erickson said is deserved.
“He put in the time,” Erickson said of Boucher. “He’s going to thank his teammates and coaches and say he wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for them ... and it’s kind of a team award ... but he’s the one that put the time in and the effort, and he’s the one who led us to where we are.
“He helped put us on the map,” Erickson continued. “He had a great year and deserves everything that comes to him.”
