The Trapper men picked up their 19th and 20th losses of the season at Sheridan and Rock Springs last week.
Northwest — which has been stuck on nine wins since Jan. 11 — lost to the Sheridan College Generals 94-82 on Feb. 19 and to Western Wyoming Community College Mustangs on Saturday, 99-58.
Sheridan College
The Generals, who escaped by a whisker in an earlier meeting in Powell, were up only two at halftime, 43-41. However, Sheridan College outpaced the Trappers by 10 points in the second 20 minutes to spell the difference.
NWC sophomore Kyle Brown hit for double-digits three times over with 30 points for Northwest. The New York City sophomore hit all three of his 3-point shots, sank 11-18 field goals overall and went 5-6 at the line. Rambo Badyal scored 18 and Josh Petteno 16 in the Trapper cause.
Tops in rebounds for Northwest were the nine grabs of 6 foot, 1-inch freshman point guard Alan Swenson, who also dished off eight assists. Petteno and Max Dehon were credited with eight rebounds apiece, with Dehon adding two blocks.
Abdul Shanunu put in a full night’s work for Sheridan with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Teammate JoVon McClanahan had 12 boards and 22 points.
Northwest fired it up 28 times from three, hitting 13. Sheridan was 9-24 with their toes behind the arc. The Generals had the best of it at the free throw line where they parlayed 26 opportunities into 21 points. Northwest was 11-15.
The Generals reeled in 45 rebounds, 14 on their own offensive end, to 31 total and two offensive for Northwest.
Western Wyoming
The Mustangs have had Northwest’s number this year and Saturday night at Rock Springs was no exception.
Western put the hammer down from the jump and was already in control at halftime, 50-24. In the second 20 minutes the Mustangs put up 49 to 34 for the Trappers.
