Erickson looks forward
What’s in a name? For Northwest College men’s basketball coach Brian Erickson, everything. Erickson led the Trappers to a 22 11 record and a Region IX tournament semifinal appearance while serving as the team’s interim head coach this past winter. While the interim label had no bearing on the team’s success during the season, Erickson learned that wasn’t the case when it came to the recruiting trail.

Erickson officially made head coach for Northwest
A familiar face will return to the sidelines of Ken Rochlitz Court as the Northwest College Trappers officially named Brian Erickson head men’s basketball coach for the 2013-2014 season. Erickson coached the Northwest College Trappers to a 22-11 season and a Region IX tournament semifinal appearance while serving as interim head coach this past winter.

Solarin honored by NJCAA
Northwest College sophomore men’s basketball player Jeffery Solarin capped a brilliant two-year hardwood career for the Trappers by being named an NJCAA All American honorable mention on Monday. Solarin was one of three Region IX Players honored on the final national award list for the 2012-2013 season.

Trapper men ousted in semifinals
The Northwest College Trappers saw a late-season run through the Region IX tournament come screeching to a halt in the second half of their Tuesday night contest against Otero. The defending Region IX champion Rattlers used a 10-0 run midway through the second half to eliminate Northwest 75-63.

Trapper men advance at Region IX Tourney
The Northwest College Trappers rode a 33-point night from sophomore Junior Coleman to their first Region IX tournament victory in three seasons, winning 90-83 over Lamar in Sunday night’s opening round. The Trappers were in action Monday night in the quarterfinals against tournament host Casper, a team they split with during the regular season.
