On Thursday April 22nd, James Farrell, a New York City based Photographer, will present a workshop on lighting and posing active sports photography on location at Northwest College. The two-part workshop will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday morning (place TBA) with Farrell demonstrating how to light and pose members of the Trapper sports teams as they show off their athletic moves in front of his camera. After a short lunch break, Farrell will resume his workshop by giving a demonstration on how to prepare and edit his images from the morning session for submission to sports magazines and corporate clients using Capture one and Photoshop.
Farrell has worked with clients such as Peloton, FitBit, NFL, and ESPN, Runner's World, Fitness Magazine, Bicycling Magazine, Muscle and Fitness. He brings his expertise to share with photography students in the Photographic Communications program as well as sports photography enthusiasts in the Bighorn Basin. Funding for Farrell’s visit is provided by a Perkins Grant devoted to bringing current technology and industry trends to classrooms focused on providing workforce ready curriculums.
