Landing in Islamabad on January 1st, Dr. J. Gregory Smith spent the first two weeks of 2023 traveling in Pakistan. The trip was made possible by an Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language (UISFL) Program grant awarded to MSU Billings and Northwest College. During his visit, Dr. Smith had the opportunity to do presentations at his host university, observe wild monkeys in a national park, visit a small village that was the subject of an anthropological study in the 1950s, and explore the ruins of 4,000 year-old ancient cities of the Indus Valley Civilization. All these activities were undertaken in order to infuse some real-world experiences in several of his anthropology and geography classes.
This program is free and open to the public. A traditional Pakistani dish will be served for lunch.
