On March 31st, we provided information regarding the new Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). The FFCRA offers College employees Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL) and Expanded Family and Medical Leave (EFML) for specified reasons related to COVID-19. This new federal program is in effect from April 1, 2020, until December 31, 2020, and applies to regular staff and faculty, fixed term faculty, adjunct faculty, interim, temporary and student employees.
We have prepared the attached documents to help explain the new federal leave programs in more detail, provide information on how they will be administered at the College, and the procedures to request FFCRA leave. We have also created a table to compare the new federal leave programs and the existing federal Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) program, as well as a form to request FFCRA leave, if and when needed.
Please note that the College’s FMLA leave policy (Board Policy 5430), Staff Sick Leave policy (Board Policy 5410), and Staff Annual Leave policy (Board Policy 5400) still apply for leave outside of FFCRA.
We are happy to explain how these programs might apply in your own personal situation for leave needed due to COVID 19 related issues.
