Happy Friday Students,
The beginning of the semester is right around the corner! We’re less than one week from starting classes, but did you know that Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding is available to help you pay for college for the fall? The funds are allocated for the fall 2020 semester only, so be sure to act fast.
Today’s topic: CARES Grants
Congress allocated $1.25 billion to Wyoming as part of the CARES Act. Last week, Governor Gordon approved some of this funding to help those who will benefit from job training or college education.
Whether this is your first or final semester, most NWC students are eligible for funding. You must be enrolled during the fall semester to receive these grants, and the funds may only be used for the fall 2020 semester.
The Plan
To participate, students must be U.S. citizens who are either current or new students at NWC and must be eligible for federal student aid as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Out-of-state students must be enrolled in at least one residential class on campus. The financial assistance will be distributed as “last-dollar-in” financial aid, after other merit and need-based aid is applied, including scholarships and grants.
What this means for you
With new funding opportunities through the CARES Act, you may be eligible for one of the two following grants. Visit the link below to download an application and see the NWC Financial Aid Office submission guidelines.
Remember, you have to act fast! CARES Act funding has to be allocated before November 1, 2020 and NWC classes begin August 19. For details and applications for these grants, visit nwc.edu/financialaid/cares/fall2020.

Have a great weekend, and we’ll see you in a few days!
