Coronavirus (COVID-19) March 18 student update
Posted: March 18, 2020
Students,
As many of you may already know, last night, the Casper, Powell and Cody newspapers announced that a Cody woman tested positive for COVID-19. As a community, we knew that it would arrive, but the reality of its arrival can bring a somber feeling to us all. Let us all do what we can to stay healthy and slow the spread of this virus as much as we can.
While physical campus facilities are closed through April 3, don't forget that we are still open digitally and operating via phone, email, and online. Please call or email any office you need to during the closure. You can find contact information in our online directory at https://nwc.edu/directory. If you have questions specific to the COVID-19 closure, please email COVID-19@nwc.edu. Here are some essential points we want to communicate today.
- The NWC Student Success Center is operating remotely and is available via phone or video conferencing for NWC students who may need counseling or disability support services during this time. Please call 307-754-6135 for more details.
- NWC Mail Services will be sending an emailing providing adjusted operations for mail and packages.
- We are still on track to resume classes on April 6. Further class-specific information is scheduled to be sent starting today. Please wait for instructions from Academic Affairs or your professors for essential details about how to continue your spring 2020 classes.
- Northwest College is excited about the hard work our faculty are doing, in some pretty creative ways, to transition classes online. We have some pretty amazing instructors, willing to go the distance with you.
- We understand that remote learning may be a shift for some students and may not work for everyone, but we are committed to helping you complete your classes and providing support through this transition.
- We are monitoring federal legislation. The President and Congress are currently working on relief efforts relating to the COVID-19 situation. Current proposed federal legislation calls for financial support for Colleges and Universities, students, and employees. We are hopeful that these efforts will provide some much-needed relief for us all during the course of this pandemic and its aftermath.
Please continue to follow the NWC COVID-19 website for alerts and answers to Frequently Asked Questions as they're added. If you have any FAQs you think we should add, please send them to COVID-19@nwc.edu.
